Ember, the global energy think tank, and New AutoMotive, a leading think tank working on the transition to electric vehicles, are uniting to strengthen their shared mission of accelerating the transition to a clean, electrified energy future.

New AutoMotive will become part of a new group led by Ember, continuing to operate as an independent organisation in the near term while benefitting from Ember’s global reach and energy sector expertise.

The move continues Ember’s expansion into clean electrification, where transport represents the largest sector of fossil fuel dependence and oil import vulnerability. It reflects the changes taking place in energy systems across the world, as electrotech like EVs, solar and batteries scale rapidly, driven by China and powering an emerging market leapfrog. As electrotech increasingly undercuts fossil alternatives on cost, the opportunity has never been greater.

Aditya Lolla, interim MD of Ember, said:
