Tesla Buys Maxwell Technologies For Its Ultracapacitor Secrets
Ultracapacitor maker Maxwell Technologies has been acquired by Tesla, likely for dry electrode intellectual property. For $218 million, Tesla is well on its way to better batteries and energy distribution systems for its vehicles.

New Battery Patent For Tesla With Two-Additive Electrolyte
Tesla's battery research group led by Jeff Dahn in Halifax has applied for a patent that describes a new battery cell chemistry that would result in faster charging and discharging, better longevity, and even lower cost.

The Next Phase Of Vehicle To Grid Integration
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) integration is not a new idea. What if all these mobile batteries could help balance power supplies?

Global Lithium-Ion Battery Market Expected To Exceed $60B By 2024
Global Market Insights released a report Monday estimating that the lithium-ion battery global market size will exceed $60 billion by 2024.

Kaman Measuring Announces KD-5100 Differential Measurement System
The Measuring Division of Kaman Precision Products, Inc., a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance, precision non-contact position measuring systems, announces the availability of its KD-5100 differential measurement system, which provides resolution to a nanometer of positional change. With its proven stable design, extremely small size, and low power consumption, the KD-5100 is ideal for night vision systems, precision telescope positioning, fast steering mirrors (FSM) for space-based and airborne applications, and image stabilization systems.

High Capacity Silicon-Carbon Anodes
pH Matter, LLC ("the company") is pleased to announce initiation of a $1 million product development project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy for engineered materials for lithium ion battery anodes. Lithium ion batteries are being increasingly adopted for automotive power applications; however, the lithium capacity of the negative electrode (anode) limits the amount of energy these batteries can store. Improvements to the anode would increase the energy density and lower the battery cost. For electric vehicles, lower battery cost and higher energy density would increase the driving range of vehicles, accelerating their adoption.
