Sakti3 Becomes Affiliate to US Department of Energy's Joint Center for Energy Storage Research

Sakti3, Inc. has become an affiliate to the US Department of Energy’s Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR). Possible areas of collaboration include simulations and prototyping of materials for Sakti3 solid state batteries.

JCESR, led by Argonne National Laboratory, is a major research partnership that combines the research and development capabilities of five national laboratories with four private sector partners and five research universities. Sakti3 will join its affiliate program, cooperating with JCESR to develop energy storage technologies that go beyond lithium-ion-based technologies for transportation and large-scale energy applications.

Sakti3 is commercializing a breakthrough, high performance, low cost and intrinsically safe solid-state battery technology. The materials, device designs and manufacturing methodologies were selected and optimized using advanced computational modeling, and lockstep, small-scale prototyping. The company is now scaling its prototypes in pilot production.

“We are pleased to add Sakti3 as a JCESR affiliate,” said George Crabtree, Director of JCESR. “We feel confident that the strong team at Sakti3 will be a tremendous asset to JCESR, helping us to meet the important goals of the organization.”

“JCESR has the potential to develop transformational new technologies in the long term, while utilizing the US infrastructure of universities, startups and labs to speed innovations to market in the near term.” said Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, Sakti3’s CEO. “We are pleased to contribute to this large, ambitious and multi-institution project.”
